What is Annual Fund?
Launched every October, the Annual Fund is designed to help cover the current year's anticipated operational expenses. All Independent School budgets have a planned gap between tuition and the actual cost of educating a student. Bridges' tuition covers about 95% of our expenses. The balance of our needed income comes from tax deductible gifts to the annual fund. Why doesn't tuition cover the full cost of educating each student? To cover the actual cost of educating a student would require a significant tuition increase. Rather than opting for that increase, Independent schools traditionally balance their operating budget with tax-deductible donations to Annual Fund. How much am I expected to give? We request that you give a gift that is personally meaningful, which varies from family to family. We need a number of leadership gifts to meet our goal but we also appreciate personally meaningful gifts from other giving levels. Historically, we have had families who give $40,000 and others who give $40. Will a small gift make a difference? Yes! Bridges needs your participation. While the dollar goal is very important to meeting the annual budget, there is also a goal of 100% parent participation. A high percentage of support from our community is an effective statement to foundations and corporations that our families are invested in our mission. Your backing is pivotal to our ability to receive outside funding. How do I make my gift? You can make your gift by check, credit card, or the transfer of securities. When should I give? While the Bridges Annual Fund accepts gifts throughout the year, your early gift reduces the cost of mailings and helps the school with its budgeting and cash flow. |
