About Bridges Academy Seattle
Bridges Academy Seattle is a day school which opened for the 2022-2023 academic year. It is a sister school to Bridges Academy Los Angeles, which educates a diverse group of gifted students with a range of strengths, interests, and learning differences. We refer to these students as twice-exceptional or 2e. Bridges Academy has specialized in the education of 2e students for over 25 years. We are a member of the Bridges Education Group, comprising the Bridges 2e Center for Research and Professional Development, Bridges 2e Media, and Bridges Academy Seattle.
Our program is strength-based, student-centered, and life changing.

What is 2e?
Gifted children come with a certain set of needs. The same is true for students with learning challenges or disabilities. But what about kids who fall into both groups? These children are known as twice-exceptional. 2e kids display amazing gifts, talents, or potential in some areas while also being challenged in other areas with learning differences, such as ADD/ADHD, Asperger’s or autism spectrum disorder, sensory issues, and more.

Mission & Values
Bridges Academy provides a rigorous, innovative curriculum that emphasizes the strengths, gifts, and talents of its students, while proactively offering options and tools to address their learning differences. Our core values include embracing cognitive diversity, emphasizing strengths and talents, empowering learners, and ensuring equity and access. The school prepares students for the 21st century and its many opportunities, including university studies, and artistic and entrepreneurial endeavors.
Our Faculty
Faculty are key to successful 2e students and to a successful school. Bridges teachers are smart and articulate. They love their chosen field, and they enjoy working with 2e students to build a positive, energetic learning dynamic. Our teachers have a broad worldview with significant exposure to human diversity. Rich life experiences (hobbies and interests), as well as personality and temperament, are regarded as essential qualities for a 2e teacher.
Our Approach
Bridges pedagogy shifts away from the traditional deficit models and the 19th century factory paradigm. Instead, our approach is strength-based and talent development focused, with an emphasis on interests, exploration, inter and transdisciplinary curriculum, and student agency. Whether latent, emergent, or manifest, every 2e student has skills and abilities that can be developed to achieve the highest levels of success. We value the wisdom of liberal arts breadth, encourage deep dives into areas of interest, and trust and honor the multitude of pathways the journeys of individual children will take to self-actualization.
