Learn More About Bridges Academy

There is a lot to learn about twice-exceptionality. We all want to be the best parents, educators, and advocates we can be for 2e children. There is often conflicting advice on how to raise and educate a 2e child. What is helpful or productive for one child may not be helpful for another. Sometimes the family needs support as well as the child. It is important to focus on balancing responsibilities and prioritizing and moving between  the needs of your children, other family members, and yourself. 

2e parents can turn to the internet, therapists, advocates, family, and friends. 2e parents can also turn to the Bridges Academy community. The individuals listed below have a wealth of information that could be useful. Feel free to direct your inquiry to the most appropriate support person below.

Carl Sabatino has served as the Head of School at Bridges since 2005. Prior to that, Carl was Head of the Upper School at Lawrence Woodmere Academy.

Kim Vargas holds a master’s in special education for the gifted and a special education teaching credential from Cal Poly. Her son graduated from Bridges in 2011.

Doug Lenzini has been admissions director at Bridges Academy since 2001. He also has extensive experience in journalism and the entertainment industry.

Dr. Chris Wiebe serves as director of coordinated programs for the Bridges Ed Group, including Bridges Online, 2e Media, 2e Center, and Bridges Grad School.

Ellen Rosen is an attorney and professional photographer who has served as chair of the Board since 2014. One of her children graduated from Bridges in 2016.

Eileen Brennan previously served on the Board of Trustees as Development Committee chair and co-chair of the Board. Her son graduated from Bridges in 2008.

Anna Schaerf earned her MS in counseling, marriage, and family therapy from Cal State-Northridge. She has been at Bridges since 1999.

Maria Kennedy received her M.Ed. from Manchester University. A recipient of numerous teaching awards, Maria previously directed the Bridges Phoenix program.
